QT: Jonah 1-4

So the captain came to him, and said to him, “What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.” (‭Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ NKJV)

Therefore they cried out to the LORD and said, “We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man’s life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it pleased You.” So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows. (‭Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭14-16‬ NKJV)

I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God. (‭Jonah‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬ NKJV)

“Those who regard worthless idols Forsake their own Mercy. But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.” So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. (‭Jonah‬ ‭2‬:‭8-10‬ NKJV)

So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. (‭Jonah‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ NKJV)

Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. (‭Jonah‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ NKJV)

So he prayed to the LORD, and said, “Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. (‭Jonah‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ NKJV)

And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left—and much livestock?” (‭Jonah‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ NKJV)

QT: Obadiah 1

“For the day of the LORD upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head. For as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though they had never been. “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,” For the LORD has spoken. (‭Obadiah‬ ‭1‬:‭15-18‬ NKJV)

QT: Amos 1-9

The words of Amos, who was among the sheepbreeders of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. And he said: “The Lord roars from Zion, And utters His voice from Jerusalem; The pastures of the shepherds mourn, And the top of Carmel withers.” (Amos 1:1, 2 NKJV)

Thus says the Lord : “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have despised the law of the Lord, And have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray, Lies which their fathers followed. (Amos 2:4 NKJV)

Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. (Amos 3:7 NKJV)

“I overthrew some of you, As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. (Amos 4:11 NKJV)

They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly. (Amos 5:10 NKJV)

Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. (Amos 5:14, 15 NKJV)

Woe to you who put far off the day of doom, Who cause the seat of violence to come near; Who lie on beds of ivory, Stretch out on your couches, Eat lambs from the flock And calves from the midst of the stall; Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments, And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David; Who drink wine from bowls, And anoint yourselves with the best ointments, But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. Therefore they shall now go captive as the first of the captives, And those who recline at banquets shall be removed. (Amos 6:3-7 NKJV)

Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: “I was no prophet, Nor was I a son of a prophet, But I was a sheepbreeder And a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, And the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’ (Amos 7:14, 15 NKJV)

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord. (Amos 8:11 NKJV)

“On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the Lord who does this thing. (Amos 9:11, 12 NKJV)

3 Random Facts

In this case incidences. Hi, long time no rant, haha. As you can tell I’ve just been posting my QT verses that stand out to me in the past couple of years. What I do want to get off my chest is fortunately a small issue, it’s slightly terrifying and annoying when it comes to kids. I’m at this age where my friends are having kids which is great! I think kids are adorable and I learn a lot from them. They’re cute until they come over and take or attempt to take my stuff. But I don’t blame them, I blame their parents even though they’re my friends. I notice parents are very sensitive especially when it comes to their kids but how do you suggest them to bring their own toys when they bring their kids over?

Incident #1 – I had an incident when my friends brought their kid over; who had no toys with her so I offered my figurines to keep her distracted only to find them missing later. That Hello Kitty House was a gift from my sister.

Incident #2 – Another friend brought her baby who didn’t have his own toys so I offered to let him play and drool on my stuffed animals (ahhhh).

Incident #3 – I went to visit a friend in Texas and her toddler fell in love with my soft neck pillow I got it from Daiso in Cali. Mind you there are NO Daiso(s) (Japanese dollar store) in MD/DC/VA. When I hid the pillow he would ask for it everyday I was there until I pulled it out for him to play with. On my last night, as I was packing it away, my other friend who also came along for the trip suggested I’d just give it to him. No.Way. Luckily his parents went to Daiso a week later to get him 2 of those neck pillows.

Am I expected to give things freely away to my friends’ kids? I did not sign up for it. Why should I? I just gave friend #3 an Amazon gift card. I’m tempted to post this on FB to keep things real but I’m afraid my friends will be offended. I’m in no way trying to offend, I just want to send a friendly reminder.

QT: Joel 1-3

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
